Hekla is an iconic, innovative project, winner of the 2019 Pierres d'Or award.

This high-rise building (221 metres high with 48 floors) enjoys an attractive location, La Défense, and is the fruit of a high-quality partnership, a joint development with Hines to redesign the skyline of La Défense. With a uniquely high profile, it is part of a restructuring project led by Paris – La Défense with the aim of redesigning the Rose de Cherbourg urban interchange to transform it into a vegetated pedestrian promenade. The goal is to promote a natural link between the La Défense pedestrian area and the neighbouring cities of Paris, Courbevoie and Nanterre, and to create a true mixed-use district.

One of the operation’s achievements is the development of 80,000 m2 of office space on a trapezoidal plot measuring only 1,900 m2. Taking advantage of the constraints of the site, the unusually shaped floors are bathed in light and offer places to meet and talk, as well as flexible spaces that are conducive to cooperation between users. The shops, catering services and business centre are housed on the first floors overlooking the pedestrian ring, with an emphasis on accessibility for pedestrians, via two linked lobbies which encourage a flow of traffic.

Living spaces serve users as original places for work, resourcing and well-being.
